Cora: Finding a Home in the Scrub is the product of a collaboration with the Avian Ecology Program and Education Programs at Archbold Biological Station. I worked directly with avian ecology researchers and the education program director at Archbold to bring to life a story that educates readers on Florida Scrub-Jays and Archbold’s research and conservation efforts. A major educational goal was to make this comic available to middle-schoolers as part of Archbold’s outreach efforts. To ensure that this comic could be used in classrooms, we included Florida middle school science learning benchmarks from the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for science.
